Dropbox CEO lessons learned

I watched a video of Drew Houston, the CEO and founder of dropbox, a cloud based file storage and sharing service. Here are some key points I found interesting:

-They created a video that went viral to drive interest in their private beta. The video had references to xkcd, office space, etc. (I can't find the video)

-They planned to ship in 8 weeks and it took 18 months.

-They ran ad experiments on adwords, but found that search harvests demand but doesn't create it.

-They used 2 side incentives for referral. Both the referrer and referred get extra space. This viral marketing was the key to their growth.
