electric cars

60 minutes did a story about Telsa Motors, the Silicon valley start up company that has created an all electric car.  It costs 109 thousand dollars and runs off Lithium ion batteries (like in your laptop or cell phone).  It goes about 244 miles per charge. The clever thing, considering the high cost, was to make it a sports car that competes with companies like porsche with similar price tags.  It goes from 0 to 60 in 3.9 seconds.

The story also mentions the EV-1, General Motors electric car that was recalled and destroyed, and portrayed as a conspiracy in the documentary Who Killed the electric car.  It reminds me of the General Motor StreetCar conspiracy. Since the story ran gas prices have plummetted and GM has declared they may not have enough money to make it to the end of the year..... strange times.
