Loren Britcher discusses Tweetie, an ios twitter client that was eventually bought by Twitter (after this video was made). He attribute his success to luck, marketing, and quality. He talks about the events that preceded his sales spikes. He released a fart feature as a joke, got featured by apple, created controversy over app store rejection, got featured by twitter, and got press for releasing Tweetie for Mac. Each sales spike went away, but afterwards there was solid increase in sales. He also discusses how he thinks he to the balance between simplicity and features right.
